One API for a country that publishes emergency data eight different ways

EmergencyAPI provides a single REST API for real-time emergency incident data across every Australian state and territory. We poll the official government feeds, normalise them into one schema, and serve them to developers and organisations who need national coverage without building and maintaining 34 integrations.

The API covers fires, floods, storms, medical emergencies, rescues, hazmat incidents, earthquakes and satellite-detected hotspots, alongside disaster declarations and river gauge levels. The historical archive reaches back to 1840.

Australia has eight separate emergency services, each publishing at a different URL, in a different format, on a different cadence, with a different idea of what a timestamp is. National coverage means writing and maintaining a parser for every one of them, and finding out from your users when a state changes its API without notice.

Government moves slowly and has no commercial reason to build a unified API. The private alternatives are enterprise-only or single-hazard. That gap is the whole reason this exists.
